December 23. On this date in 1964 - fifty years ago today - The Beach Boys appeared on Shindig. They performed Little Saint Nick, Dance, Dance, Dance, Papa Oom Mow Mow, and Monster Mash. Following that taping, they boarded a flight from Los Angeles to a concert in Houston. While in flight, Brian Wilson suffered a nervous breakdown, leading to his retirement from touring.
