December 24, 2014 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) My devotion today is a personal testimony of the goodness of God in my life; I have so much to be thankful for. Four years ago during this time I was 1 week into my recovery from prostate surgery after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Three years ago in December I was finishing up the last of my 37 radiation treatments as my PSA count was creeping back up after surgery. Last night after working all day at the credit union I came home and participated in one of my favorite hobbies, helping my wife cook. I have a wonderful wife who has been my right arm in ministry for over 34 years. Both of my children are home for Christmas. I have been privileged to serve a wonderful congregation that has called me Pastor for 14 years. I have been blessed with a wonderful job at Desco, a company that still declares Merry Christmas. I am now finishing my 40th year in the ministry in which 37 have been serving in the role of a pastor. All three congregations I have served in those 37years have been wonderful to me and my family. I know I have failed Him more times that I could ever count but He has never failed me. Besides all of these blessings which are just a scratch of the surface of His blessings in my life, I have had a “0” on my PSA for the past year; meaning there are no active cancer cells at this time. God has been good to me and much better than I deserve. I want to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas, hope you will enjoy time with your family as we celebrate the birth of our KING.
