December 26, 2014 7:07 pm Todays Update: Today was a very busy day with the Home Health nurse and the Home Health aid coming by to check and make sure we dont need anything. The nurse gave us some good news and some bad news. The good news was Ive been doing a really good job keeping her trachea clean and keeping it clean underneath were the stitches were taken out and its now healing. Also that her lungs are free and clear. The bad news is next week a speech therapist will start coming to the house to teach her how to talk with the trachea and during the time that its healing after they remove it. I asked how long the hole in her neck will take to heal and she said it takes another 6 to 12 weeks. Thats something we hadnt considered when we were factoring in how long shell be out of school. Shell also have a physical therapist coming next week for her leg. Some more good news I have is that I think Ive finally found an eating pattern that she can tolerate and shes starting to work up to her goal which is 4 bags of 360cc. The past couple of days Ive had to put her on a super slow drip that was taking 5 to 6 hours for her to eat one meal and today shes ate in under 2 hours without getting sick. Im very hopeful shes over that hurdle. James and I had the thought that she might have been getting blood in her stomach from her trachea from where it was healing from the stitches that may have been irritating her stomach. Another great thing that happened today is we finally had the time to get our wifi hooked up!! She was super excited about that so its great to see that something other than looking at a wall or sleeping is helping her pass the time by. She refused to watch tv or anything for the first week. But weve been watching movies for 2 days now which has been great. Katelyn got to go shopping today, mama and Kenny took her to town to spend her holiday money which was great. She needed to get out shes been a lot of help and has worked hard. Overall we had a great day. Please help me pray shell continue to heal, wont get any kind of cold or congestion, and we will be able to keep her pain level at a minimum. Now that the swelling has gone down tremendously everything is a lot more sensitive, her jaw hurts her a lot even though she doesnt admit it I catch her holding her face with her blanket to try to warm it up and nothing else is cold so I know its hurting.
