December 29, 2014 Moment of Grace POOR IN SPIRIT And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:1-3 NKJV Are you blessed and happy today? Jesus taught “Blessed/happy is he who is poor in spirit… theirs is the kingdom of heaven!” If you are like me you are probably thinking I don’t want to be empty or need help from someone else. Yet, Jesus emphasized something directly in opposition to the nature of our pride and self-sufficient life! Jesus was telling us that the basic need Father God placed in each of us is the ideal of being needed! Isn’t it humbling to admit, “I need you in my life!” Someone reading this moment of grace is struggling with asking for help today. Give up… be happy and ask someone for help. Sometimes it is just acknowledging you do not know it all… ask for help! Robert Schuller quote: “You will never be licked as long as you know what it is you’ve lacked.” PRAYER: Father God, Your Word declares that in knowing You I have eternal life. Your love has drawn me to know You. Thank You today for the revelation of love. My need of eternal life was given freely by You! Before I was born You knew me and loved me. Truly I am empty without You, Lord. Use me today to share how important others are to me as well. Reveal more of Your model prayer, Our Father... May I be used to tell others how much they mean to You and to me- for I need them on this journey. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen!
