December 31,1978 it started snowing and I was very pregnant. Snow was falling very fast and I got snowed out of my Scranton home. So, to my parents house I went to stay since I couldnt convince ANYONE that I was not having the baby. At 3:10 am on January 1,1979 the fun began. Dad was trying to get the front door opened and cleared of snow drift, mom was on phone with hospital, and I was still trying to convince all it was just leg cramps. After 1st ambulance went into ditch, and the 4 wheel drive ambulance was having trouble making it here came the convoy! Road dozer led then the ambulance, another tow truck, helicopter above all and two national guard hummers followed. I am so embarrassed cause it was just a leg cramp but couldnt convince my anyone of that. At 5:30 they get me loaded into ambulance and head to hospital. Got to hospital at 7:10 and I am still arguing its leg cramp. They unload me and run down the hall to delivery. I am cussing them all at this time about how stupid they are and will kick all their butts when I get untied from stretcher! At 7:30ish a nurse slapped me and told me to relax. Well you know how that went over and I was struggling to get lose. The dr walked into the room and caught my son from hitting floor. Yep right there on the stretcher and everybody around me I gave birth to a 8 lb 2 oz baby boy. That nurse was never to be seen again by me! Lmao. Happy Birthday BJ Rodecap! Its been many years since this night but I still remember it like it was last night. You have made me very proud with the man, husband and father you have become. May you have very many more years to come! Love you, Mom.
