December 31st, 2014 To me, 2014 was a year of experience and reflection. On January 1st, at the stroke of midnight, I wished a Happy New Year to my loved ones. I was preparing to begin my last term at the University of British Columbia. I was both relieved and worried at the same time, relieved because I saw my success in graduation in the horizon after five fun but tedious years, and burdened with one thoughts; will I be able to find a job ? This question was answered in February, where I was recruited at a flourishing dental group. My life was then taken up with juggling between my first job and my last courses, among which the most fascinating seminar class I ever attended at UBC. I had also been working on getting my class 7L drivers license on the side. In May, I graduated the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics. Soon thereafter, I took my first one-week vacation to Korea, to meet my family and relatives. We visited Jeju Island for the first time, a place with snow-white beach and emerald blue waters. Upon returning to Vancouver, I contemplated on switching jobs. This came about in July, when I went through two interviews to join Scotiabank to start my career in banking. I also passed my class 7 passenger vehicle driving test, and unable to contain my excitement, I went straight to the Car2Go office to open an account. My driving experience brought my girlfriend and I to Okanagan, the easternmost location I have ever reached in Canada from Vancouver. In August, mom came to Canada for the first time. I hurriedly purchased my first car, a brand new 2014 Honda Civic Sedan, in order to prepare to accommodate Mom with proper transportation. I completely fell in love with it even to this day. Meanwhile, mom completely revamped my house, adding in a sofa, and changing my twin bed into a queen size, while completely redesigning my studio interior in general. Only after she left did she reveal her bad news. Fortunately, her operation was successful, and she is undergoing treatment. I thank God and pray to Him for this. On November 29th, 2014, I decided to resign from the job as banker of Scotiabank. I was overwhelmed, and I needed space to breath, to step back and see the world as it is. And here I am now, looking back the year, a fun, dynamic year full of new experiences. And so I look on, ready to welcome yet another new year, in which I will do my best to reach new heights. Happy new year to all, and may 2015 bring the best experiences yet in your lives :) PS: I want to wave to those I was lucky enough to bump into this year, and I most dearly wish to meet those I was unable to meet in the next year. Know that I have not discriminated intentionally, just that, as stated above, I was swept away by events in life .... constantly .... !!
