December 4, 1965 - 49 Years Ago Today: The Knickerbockers debuted at No. 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their single, Lies. This was the New Jersey rock bands debut single on the Hot 100 and it peaked at No. 20 on January 22, 1966. Despite over a dozen single releases including two to chart on the Hot 100 in 1966, Lies proved to be their only Top 40 hit branding the group a One Hit Wonder. Vocalist, Bill Buddy Randell Crandall was previously with the Royal Teens who had a No. 3 hit with Short Shorts in 1958. Linda Ronstadt recorded a cover of Lies and it appears on her 1982 pop album, Get Closer. Original picture sleeve posted below on this music page.
