December 7 1941… A day that will line in infamy. When the Japanese approached the main island of Hawaii their first bombs were dropped at an airbase on a small island where the first causality who was inside an aircraft hanger was Theodore Wheeler Croft USAF. Croft was a Georgia native who was born on March 8 1913. He is considered by most to have been the first American who died in Americas direct involvement in World War II. He was buried in Onhu Nuuanu Cemetery in Hawaii and later brought back to his home State of Georgia and buried at Andersonville National Cemetery on March 18 1948. He rest in Section A Grave 13808. Today we remember his sacrifice and the sacrifice of the countless American Heroes who would give the last measure for our freedoms.
