December 7, 2014- Nepalese Law Students’ Association in strong coordination with Nepal Law Campus conducted a seminar on “Legal Empowerment and Gender Justice “at the National Women’s Commission. As our speakers, we invited Dr. Ramesh Parajuli, Lecturer at Nepal Law Campus and Mrs. Puspa Pokharel, Director at National Law College. Mr. Ram Tiwari (LLM student at NaLC) presented his ideas on the topic, which was commented and discussed upon by our invited speakers. Three case studies were presented in the seminar, which called for an imperative to move beyond the piecemeal, structural and institutional approach and examine the whole empowerment phenomenon through a rather nuanced agentic and capabilities lens (à la Max Weberian and Amartya Senian mode of theorizing).
