December 7th 1941, a day that will live in infamy. I hope we all took a moment amid the playoffs to be sorted, Bengals games to lose, parties to attend, and shopping to do to simply remember. They may be referred to now as the greatest generation but on that day, in 1941 they were as scared and unsure as we were on September 11, 2001 maybe even more so. Those brave souls that dared so greatly and left behind their mortal coil asked little of us in return, but that we remember them. Those few who remain, whose brittle bodies and feeble minds belie the heroes within, simply ask that we not forget. 73 years have passed since that day. Just 73. It has been 13 years since 9/11. In 60 years, will that day that so deeply shaped our lives become a footnote to those who follow us? Many of us by that time, will have left this world behind and some will remain in bodies greatly diminished and with minds that often fail. Will those then, that occupy the positions in which we now find ourselves, be respectful of the feelings we have about our sacred day? If so, who among us will they be watching to learn?
