DeclanMulhoulland scored his second race win this month at Maghera on Sunday , taking the victory from an 80 strong field of cyclists drawn from all over the province. For the current first year junior, this has been a great start to his first year of facing the much tougher competition of senior and junior riders. In the closing miles of the 52 mile race , Declan went ahead of the mail pach in the company of Simon Teggart, Ballymena Road Club, and showed his sprinting ability at the line to win. Teggart was second, just ahead of David Donaghy (Caldwells Omagh ) in third place. Elsewhere a dozen or so from Clann Eireann’s youth cycling squad were at Crumlin on Saturday, taking part in the McCall Foundation Youth Reliability Trials. Youth racing begins in Ulster during the coming weeks, and after the great start to the season from Declan Mulhoulland, club coach Mickey Murray is clearly hoping for more successes at youth level.
