Dedicated to two of my alan friends - Alan and Allan. In 2014 Emerson was inducted into the Hammond Hall of Fame. Even given Wikipedias penchant for laconic statements, this terse masterpiece ends its eulogy to Mr. Keith Emerson with a suggested finality - NOW, will you tie up your moog sir? (lol) Alan, I know that you secretly adored Mr. Keith Emerson and do so till this day. No matter how much you tried to mask it, it never was, is not and will never be a secret :) Anyways, some really hilarious fun facts from Wikipedias article about Mr. Keith Emerson for you, Alan:) I was really ROFL big time when I read this stuff, I kid you not!!!!! I only recovered enough to crank out this post because I had to. I was speaking with a young friend when Mr. Emerson came to mind, and I thought I might stun you all by such slim association as showcasing his works on this page :D :D ****The flamboyance that Emerson came to be known for began quite by chance when a fight broke out during a V.I.P.s performance in France. The band told him to keep playing so he made some explosion and machine gun sounds with his Hammond organ, which stopped the fight; everyone looked on with amazement. The other band members told him to do it at the next concert, which he did with success. (HA HA HA!!!!!) *****Emerson first heard a Moog when a record shop owner played Switched-On Bach for him. Emerson said: My God thats incredible, what is that played on? The owner then showed him the album cover. So I said, What is that? And he said, Thats the Moog synthesizer. My first impression was that it looked a bit like electronic skiffle. LOLOL!!!!!! *****The Moog was a temperamental device; the oscillators went out of tune with temperature change. Emerson: I had my faithful roady Rocky tune the instrument to A 440 just prior to the audience coming in, but once the audience came into the auditorium and the temperature rose up then everything went out of tune. (biggest ha ha ha of them all!!!!!) ******The L-100 took plenty of abuse during the stage act and was usually reinforced, to the point where it weighed so much that, on at least one occasion, Emerson became trapped beneath it and had to be rescued by a roadie. (WHO was that roadie? Bring him to me. He needs serious help lololol!!!!) ******In 1990 Emerson toured with The Best, a short-lived supergroup which also included John Entwistle, Joe Walsh, Jeff Skunk Baxter and Simon Phillips. (Yeah right. A very promising lineup indeed, each one crazier than the other, and aptly named too!) Well, Im not NEARLY done laughing my brains out but I tell the truth - this famous ELP piece Hoedown was actually double tempo live compared to the studio version, and to believe such a thing you really need to hear it. Hearing Emerson is believing:) I was also in splits looking at Greg Lake looking utterly jobless and bored, till he yells yeah! at one point in the song. Carl Palmer looks really hot and bothered and busy, as he well would expect to be in such a situation :) :) Oh good gosh!!! This was fun to write but even more fun to read and here I broke off laughing again.............
