Dedushka, as I sit here for the last time today on the balcony of your apartment going through the things you left behind I realize how little all the material possessions mean. In the 28 years that I was lucky enough to have you in my life you taught me so much life. I learned how to love and be loved. You instilled in me the value of family, which was always the most important thing in your life. You lived your whole life selflessly for mom and me. You stood my me through all the good times and the bad, when no one else did. You survived WWII as a young teenager and the stories you told of the bombings invasions and your 3 sisters being taken into the war will remain with me always. You had an amazing interesting and eventful career as a pilot, airplane mechanic and failed aviation investigator - at the beginning of the world s invention of air travel. As a leader in that field you were able to travel the world to various crash sites to better the air travel safety that we all enjoy today. I will never love, respect and cherish anyone in my life the way I loved and love you always and forever. You were the most important and most influential person in my life. I know you are there looking down on me. You did not deserve to go through what you did in your last few months, cancer is a horrible disease and it hit you so hard so fast. I take solace in knowing you are no longer in pain. I heard you when you said you were ready to go. I know you never really knew your dad, never had a fatherly figure in your life but despite that you were the best dad anyone could ever wish for. I hope you finally met your dad in heaven. You will remain in my heart and memory for all of eternity. RIP my favorite Ded Vova. (05/01/1928 -12/22/2014) ❤tvaya lybimaya vnychka Jenya.
