Dee and I were so sad to hear of the passing of Kammerschauspieler - TopicsExpress

Dee and I were so sad to hear of the passing of Kammerschauspieler Gerd Voss today ( this after yesterdays loss of Lorin Maazel_--too many deaths, Lord!!). When Dee and I conceived and created the Red Ribbon Gala for the Bill Clinton Health Initiative, as part of the Life Ball in Vienna two years ago, Gerd Voss embraced our concept of having fabulous dramatic texts read as interludes, to heighten the impact of the music chosen for our dramatically conceived gala evening. This enabled the creation of a concert of operatic prowess, or perhaps was it a play with music reflecting lifes struggles, where singers, actors such as him, Maximilian Schell, Antonio Banderas and so many more, along with the Vienna Philharmonic, the staging, set design, and lighting in the Burgtheater, melt into one glorious dramatic voice of reason. I remember him and Dee having long conversations about his text and the vital appropriateness of it, and all he wanted and did in the end with passion, was to make sure the author - am man who had written about his impending AIDS death and what he faced, would be heard- boy did he ever! He was a warm and kind gentleman with a certain and undeniable authority. Vienna and the world has lost a great man today! Danke Gerd Voss
