Deep in the Tennessee hills, a farmers mule kicked him to death. An enormous crowd of ladies turned out for the funeral. Watching the crowd form outside the church, the pastor commented to his widow, “Your husband must have been mighty popular with the ladies.” “Theyre not here for the funeral,” said the widow. “They’re here to buy the mule.” (And you can kind of blame that joke on Garrett A Pendergast, except that I gender-corrected it.)
