Deepest Sympathies to the Gillespie families in the passing of their patriarch and long time serving member of the Indigenous Peoples Organisation Network of Australia. Mr Gillespie was a vigilant and determined advocate on the rights of Indigenous Peoples participating at home and in international forums - The UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York and the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Geneva. His memorable performance at the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) in Geneva a few years ago, regarding the funding of Aboriginal legal services in Australia will always be remembered and a talking point in human rights forums. Another warrior in the long hard struggle in recognition of our rights as Indigenous Peoples he will be remembered. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Vale Mr Gillespie - Rest In Peace
