Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, or traducement—is the communication of a false statement that harms the reputation of an individual, business, product, group, government, religion, or nation. Most jurisdictions allow legal action to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism. It is usually regarded as irrational unprovoked criticism which has little or no factual basis and can be compared to hate speech, which is can also be taken to encompass discrimination against a particular organisation, individual, nation, corporation or other political, social, cultural or commercial entity which has often but not always been entrenched in the practitioner by old prejudices and xenophobia. Under common law, to constitute defamation, a claim must generally be false and have been made to someone other than the person defamed.[1] Some common law jurisdictions also distinguish between spoken defamation, called slander, and defamation in other media such as printed words or images, called libel.[2] False light laws protect against statements which are not technically false but misleading.[3] In some civil law jurisdictions, defamation is treated as a crime rather than a civil wrong.[4] The United Nations Commission on Human Rights ruled in 2012 that the criminalization of libel violates freedom of expression and is inconsistent with Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.[5] If the harassment does not stop....the bogus posts slandering me and my business all over a certain persons Facebook, including posting on the place I works business page.......i will be seeking legal action. By the end of the week. Ive done nothing but be extremely honest with said person and tried to help and then defended myself after they proceeded to slander me all over Facebook. Slandering me on your page and blowing something petty out of proportion and changing the story 100 times to your friends is ONE thing. Its a whole other thing when you post on my place of works page ,clearly, in attempt to get me fired or in trouble. Lucky for me, EVERY BODY ELSE SEES HOW ABSURD YOU ARE ACTING AND HOW UNCALLED FOR AND CHILDISH IT IS. Dont start a bunch of trouble and get upset when it comes back at you threefold. Im 25 years old, I have a family to take care of, and if Id been working somewhere else, I couldve lost my job due to this childish fit youre pitching. Again, in my 4 years involved in this industry, you are the ONLY PERSON Ive had this kind of problem with. Last time I let it go because I was pregnant and trying not to miscarry again DRS ORDERS. This time I will not hesitate to take you down. This is your warning. Im sure that youll see it.
