*Defeating temptation* Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) *Refocus your attention on something else* Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to Your word. (Psalm 119:37) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman. (Job 31:1) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23) We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) Fix your thoughts on Jesus. (Hebrews 3:1) *Talk to someone you can trust about your struggle, someone who can keep you accountable* Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16) *Humble yourself before God* “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28) “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7, 8) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5, 6) *Resist the devil* Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:17) *Realize your vulnerability* So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! (1 Corinthians 10:12)
