Defending the Faith by Michael Houke False Teachers and heretics can actually speak for 10 maybe 15 minutes and say some really biblically sound stuff, but then it eventually comes out. Many baby Christians miss the bad because they not only hear the good, they want to hear the good, and they want to believe the teacher is righteous, honorable, truthful, and biblically correct in all they teach. Because they are youthful in there walk with Christ (or they lack good discernment skills) they are not aware yet of the wolves in sheep clothing. Many, when they find out that their newly found Bible teachers are heretics, they are crushed, I know I was. I will never forget. But the good and faithful student allows the Holy Spirit to guide them to the righteous teachers who teach sound doctrine and lead not the sheep astray. But the unwise and foolish students cling to their teachers as Idols and refuse to let go. They lash out at those who try to warn them, when good Bereans expose their heros as heretics they become angered at the messenger (even though they present ample support for their proof), and much damage is done to the body of Christ when this happens. This is what causes division amongst the believers. Far too often it is the good Berean who is accused and cursed and stoned, yet all he was doing was what Jesus, Paul, and the Apostles taught him to do. We must never forget that Jesus, Paul, and the other Apostles died for defending the gospel message against false teachers and heretics, Galatians 1: 6-9 should be the battle cry of every believer who truly wishes to be A Defender of the Faith. God Bless every defender of the faith, past, present, and future who stood in the face of heretics and died for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
