Definition of Pseudo-intellectual: A person who has the outward appearance of exceptional intelligence but is actually intellectually shallow and of average or even below-average intelligence. 5 Habits of Psuedo-intellectuals 1. When sharing an essay, article, etc on any form of social media they usually comment on it by saying with Interesting or Good read (likely because theyre too stupid to add anything more substantive). 2. If in college, the pseudo-intellectual is often in the habit of wearing a suit to class as an outward representation of his imaginary intellect, his imaginary importance, and his very real--and typically very large--ego. 3. When the pseudo-intellectual articulates his or her ideas either orally or in writing he often uses big words--sometimes incorrectly--to communicate because he or she is too stupid to do so intelligently with simpler language. 4. If in college the pseudo-intellectual is usually an exceptional student who mistakenly equates an impressive GPA with genuine above average intelligence. And he or she will seldom miss an opportunity to share their good grades on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. 5. It should go without saying that the pseudo-intellectual seldom does anything that actually contributes to genuine intelligence (reading, deep thinking, etc.) Otherwise they wouldnt be pseudo-intellectuals in the first place. They are much more concerned with maintaining the appearance of intelligence than actually developing the substance of it. This often involves an elaborate ruse of good grades, fancy internships and jobs, certificates, titles, organizations, etc. Beware. These idiots are everywhere. I know quite a few of them.
