Definition of irony: A university lecturer in Nigeria gets the opportunity to travel abroad for his MSc/PhD on account of GEJs re-invigoration of TETFUND, yet he keeps asking what has GEJs government done to raise the standard of education in Nigeria? Some Facebook-only intellectuals even question the propriety of sponsoring graduates abroad. Na wa! I wonder how narrow our scientific scope would have been if we never had the opportunity to fellowship with international researchers/students. Why do we still pipette by mouth? GEJ! Why do we still teach curricular that our students dont need in todays Nigeria? GEJ! GEJ is also the reason many lecturers prefer to dictate notes to students in this age rather than deliver lectures prepared as Powerpoint slides (with copious illustrations on boards if necessary)! Why do we still saddle lecturers with tedious administrative responsibilities, and still complain that theyre not involved in productive research? GEJ! GEJ is also the reason students use chukuli and other exam malpractice strategies! GEJ is the reason for the classification of many states in the North as educationally less advantaged! In fact, GEJ is the reason many students/graduates cannot construct a one-paragraph grammatically correct sentence. Everything na because of GEJ! Make una kontinu!
