"Definitions matter, especially in structural and/or systemic - TopicsExpress

"Definitions matter, especially in structural and/or systemic typologies, because imprecision leads to carelessness, obfuscation of repression, lack of support when it is merited, and the clarity necessary both to an acute and active political consciousness and the development of a moral sensibility. The term “fascism” has been bandied about, to the point of losing its sting, its cutting edge, and becoming instead the catch-all for reactionary social movements and political antics of individuals, allowing the more dangerous causal factors, e.g., capitalism, militarism, etc., to remain in shadow or otherwise assumed (and therefore neglected). Fascism comes in many forms; one size does not fit all, tempting as such an analysis might be."
