Deforestation is a far more important issue than transitioning from fossil fuels which too many are fixated on. Deforestation accounts for up to 19% of human-induced CO2. It destroys habitat thereby killing species. It causes sedimentation affecting waterways and coral reefs. It displaces tribal peoples. It eradicates gene diversity of flora. The list goes on and on. Here is where we should be concentrating on- protecting forests which are large carbon sinks and climate-moderating influencers.
