Del showed us that Jesus promised the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:1-8 ... the Apostles whom He had chosen...ye (Apostles) shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you ( Apostles): and ye (Apostles) shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Jesus told the Apostles to wait for the promise of the Father...ye (Apostles) shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. TWO EVENTS: JEWS AND GENTILES 1. Only the Apostles are recorded as speaking in tongues to the unbelieving Jews at Pentecost. 2. The Apostle Peter preached to Cornelius in Acts 10 and the same Pentecostal event fell on the Gentiles. ONLY THE APOSTLES COULD TRANSFER THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY GHOST. Apostles Peter. John and Paul laid hands on others: Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. There was NO laying on of hands at the TWO EVENTS in Acts 2 and Acts 10. The believing Jews and the Gentiles were brought into the CHURCH. The signs and wonders and revelatory gifts transfered to others by the Apostles ended with the death of the 12 Chosen Apostles (The Eleven + Paul) who are the foundation of the Church.
