Delainey got her results today for her blood work and ultrasound regarding how her kidneys are functioning. At birth, her kidneys were functioning at 15% and carried high levels of sodium, phosphate and there were high levels of protein in her urine. She had enlarged cystic kidneys and we were told she would require dialysis or a kidney transplant in her future. Well, here we are 2 years later and her kidneys are functioning at 120% and normal kidneys function at 140%. All the levels in her kidneys are spot on and her kidneys are filtering everything properly. Her urine tests showed there was a small amount of protein leaking through but again so minimal that they will just check on it a year from now just to make sure it doesnt increase. The Dr said if 3% of protein found in urine was normal hers was at 6% so really nothing at all. Her kidneys are growing which is a good sign of healthy kidneys. She does still have cysts but they arent concerned, again they will keep monitoring them. They are all so amazed at how well she is doing and they admitted that they dont know what to expect from her that we are all just learning from Delainey and seeing what it is her body is capable of doing bc according to Trisomy standards shes off the charts and they cant compare her to that anymore bc shes surpassed everyones expectations. Very happy with the results. God is good!
