Delay in Kashmir settlement may be disastrous: Prof. Butt Srinagar, September 10: In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, describing the pullout of US forces from Afghanistan by 2014 as a great challenge to Pak-India leadership, has said that lack of wisdom or delay in settlement of the Kashmir dispute may prove disastrous for the entire South Asian region. Professor Abdul Ghani Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar maintained that only the tripartite dialogue could offer practicable solution to the Kashmir dispute, adding that any solution thrust upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir from outside would not be acceptable. The senior APHC leader said that any solution to the Kashmir imbroglio would only be lasting and justifiable when it encompassed the Kashmiris’ aspirations. Rejecting election as an alternative to the right to self-determination, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt stressed the need for unity among pro-freedom parties and organisations.
