Delhi Metro is taking preventive measures by introducing news technology to minimize risk Delhi Metro is initiating preventive measure at the time of constructing the stage of Phase -III of the Metro. The Delhi Metro is creating 74 tunnels for its 53-km-extended underground corridors of Phase III. In this regard, Delhi Metro is planning to set up a latest system to accumulate data originated while constructing the 53-km-long underground corridors of Phase III in NCR for reducing risks and checking influence on existing buildings. The system work as a tool to be applied for data acquisition, visualization, reporting and risk minimisation as it will generate instant information on the development work of the tunnel and preciseness of its alignment and ground settlement. The Centralised Data Management System will be amalgamated with the general project information, continuing process data, construction schedule, geological measurements along with 3D movement of the TBM and readings of instrumentation devices. “It will consist of a map viewer showing the entire tunnel boring machine (TBM) position in planned view, which can highlight any individual TBM or settlement sensor array for a more detailed view. “The system will also be useful to monitor tunneling induced ground settlement and its influence on existing buildings, real time monitoring and comparison within expected and limiting values,” the spokesperson said. In Phase III 34 TBMs within the NCR is expected to pressed to service which would be among the highest number of such machines ever used in any urban centre around the same time in any part of the world. The tunneling of Phase III will be completed by mid 2015. Welcome pro-active safety measures
