Delhi-NCR to face tough time as NH-24 will remain closed today Mail Today Bureau New Delhi, Monday, March 31, 2014 Office-goers will have a tough time reaching their destinations on time on Monday as NH-24 will remain closed. Commuters travelling from Ghaziabad, Noida and East Delhi to Central Delhi will have to face major diversions as NH-24 will remain closed in view of protests by a religious group. According to a senior traffic police officer, both the carriage ways from Ghazipur flyover to the Uttar Pradesh border, would remain closed for all types of vehicles for the whole day. This is the second time in this month that commuters will have to face major traffic mess on NH-24. Some Muslim groups, who are protesting over the ownership of Karbala land situated in Jor bagh area, would be marching on NH-24 and probably would try to enter into the Capital. Protesters had also tried to do the same on on March 10 before being stopped at the border. For Monday the traffic coming from Nizamuddin to Ghaziabad will take compulsory right/left turn from NH-24 to UP Link Road at Akshardham Setu while traffic coming from Pusta Road to Ghaziabad will have to go straight up to Noida Gate, an advisory of the traffic police said. Traffic coming from Mother Dairy Road will not go on NH-24 and will be diverted towards Chand Cinema, Hindon canal road, Canal road and enter UP. The maximum traffic coming from the Hilton hotel side will be diverted to Hindon canal road while the Hindon canal road will be made one-way from Kondli road up to UP border, a traffic official said.
