Delhi Police has launched its first public assistance booth at the Rajiv Chowk Metro station with a plan to provide a similar facility at other Metro stations in the city. Inaugurating the booth, Delhi Commissioner of Police BS Bassi told reporters that Rajiv Chowk is the busiest Metro station with around six lakh commuters using it every day. The assistance booth will help commuters in case they are pick pocketed or they misplace their belongings. The booth will bridge the gap between the people and police. The Police Commissioner said that women constables will also be deployed at the booth from time to time. DMRC Managing Director Manju Singh said that such booths would soon come up at other Metro stations like Kashmiri Gate, Dilshad Garden, Chandni Chowk, AIIMS, Central Secretariat and others.
