Delighted to announce an upcoming screening of Dorothy Arzners 1934 Merrily We Go To Hell and accompanying panel discussion at The Cob Gallery. The event is in honour of our crowdfunding campaign to publish a monograph of works with artist Nina Mae Fowler Merrilly We Go To Hell is a film that belongs to a period of cinema before censorship laws existed and mirrors many of the themes present in Fowlers work. 22nd February- from 5:30pm Screening: 6:00pm Panel Discussion: 7:15pm The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the subject of Women, Film, Censorship: The consequences of suppression in cinema. The panel of speakers will include include Nina Fowler, Hamish McAlpine (Tartan Films and anti censorship campaigner) Sam Ashby (Little Joe), Dr Margherita Sprio ( Senior Lecturer in Film Theory at University of Westminster), Katie McCrory (big blonde salon) performance artist Eloise Fornieles and artist Phoebe Collings-James Tickets for the event are £35.00. Included in the ticket is: - a champagne reception - the film screening - the panel discussion - a signed limited edition print* of Tallulah - a portrait of Tallulah Bankhead- a star of pre code cinema and an image that forms part of Fowlers Tracings series. In honour of this event we will be issuing a box set containing ALL FIVE of Fowlers Pre-Code Series as limited edition prints.
