Delivering this beautiful custom designed X bookshelf this afternoon to a sweet family in Niceville. They are expecting a baby boy in the next few weeks, and this bookshelf was designed to complement the rustic decor in his nursery. Measuring 54 tall x 14 wide x 30 long, this handcrafted piece was finished in an off-white sandcastle color and lightly distressed. As you can see from the photo gallery, each individual board is top-shelf, #1 choice wood. Each piece was hand-selected and sanded by hand to perfection before creation. We are often asked if we use pallet woods for our builds. The answer is no, no, no, and never. As an education professional for over twenty years, I have recently done extensive research into the use of pallet wood and the possible connection with toxins. In my heart, I cannot feel safe utilizing pallets, even though they are free, to create pieces that will be used in the homes of families that trust us enough to give us their business. Based upon the extensive research I have conducted, there is no way for me to track pallets with complete assurance and know what they have come in contact with throughout their shelf life. With a piece like this that will be placed in a precious new babys nursery and grow along with him, I want to know with 100% certainty that we have not introduced anything even remotely hazardous into his environment. So, we have made the conscious decision to hand-select the products we utilize in our builds, one piece at a time. As we have always said from the beginning and will always say and stand behind --- we wont put it in your home if we wouldnt have it in ours.
