Delta Central poll: APC candidate, Emerhor goes to tribunal THE All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the October 12, 2013 Delta Central senatorial district election, Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor, has challenged the election before the National Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Asaba, seeking outright cancellation of the said election. Respondents in the petition are Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate; Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC; Resident Electoral Commissioner, Delta State; Commissioner of Police, Delta State and Chief of Staff, Nigerian Army. The petitioner is praying the tribunal to declare that Aguariavwodo was not duly elected or returned as senator for the Delta Central senatorial district by a majority of lawful votes at the by-election of October 12, 2013. He also wants the tribunal to declare that the election of October 12, 2013 upon which Aguariavwodo was declared elected senator representing Delta Central senatorial district was invalid by reason of corrupt practices or non-compliance with Electoral Law.
