Delta College has an exciting opportunity open for an Astronomer and Planetarium Manager. Established in 1961, Delta offers 150 transfer and career certificate and associate degree programs, and enrolls nearly 11,000 students each semester at its main campus and three learning centers. This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the technical development, usage and maintenance of planetarium theater functions and equipment. Designing and presenting a variety of planetarium programs and learning activities to maximize the educational and cultural needs of a broad spectrum of school and community constituencies is also a requirement of the position. Basic Requirements for this position are: Bachelor’s degree in science and/or media technology. Strong technical knowledge of astronomy and planetarium equipment including all facets of full dome digital projection systems and telescopes. Minimum five (5) years of full-time planetarium work experience including a record of progressively responsible leadership in operation, development and presentation of planetarium programs, supporting activities and supervision of people and programs. Demonstrated planetarium programming abilities including audio and visual editing and Digistar 4 or higher scripting.
