Deltin Daman Monsoon Getaway: The Food Bloggers Association of India team visited the sprawling Deltin resort in Daman over the weekend for a monsoon getaway. Lucky for us, we ended up having a sunny weekend away from the showers. We were graciously welcomed with champagne on arrival and a casino-themed pack with information about the Deltin property and our room keys. The rooms were very spacious with high ceilings and much more wooden floor space than an average hotel. The room included all amenities required to make the stay extremely comfortable. Krsna Mehta’s designs decorating the walls throughout the walkways and rooms were really intriguing and eye-catching. The interactive sushi-making session with Executive Chef- Love Mathur was fun and enlightening. Fried nari rolls and fruit sushi were a particularly interesting take on traditional nori rolls and nigiri. The FBAI team got involved although we realised it takes a lot of skill to roll sushi’s as ours were not so aesthetically pleasing. The bartending session at Whiskys was something we were all looking forward to. Along with the usually available drinks, Whiskys has produced some intriguing liqueur- spice infusions like a cardamom infused whisky and the chilli infused gin. After a fair share of lip-smacking cocktails, we headed to Emperor; the Tangra-Chinese inspired restaurant. This was a true culinary journey. Each dish on the specially-curated menu was better than the next. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and the crispy corn was a delight for the tastebuds. After a quintessential buffet breakfast, we made our way to the spa for a rejuvenating foot and head massage. Feeling relaxed and refreshed, most of us headed for a quick nap, while some chose to chill in the expansive pool; which included submerged beds and an in-pool bar. Vegas offered us a light lunch before departure. The oyster flavoured chicken leg with saffron infused risotto was a favourite amongst our group. There was so much to do within the resort, even with the casino unopened as yet, we didn’t feel the need to venture out. Unfortunately every good thing needs to end and it was time to head back to the realities of life. But the fabulous hospitality and pampering will definitely be embedded in our memories for a long time.
