Demand for IT Tralee’s Hotel Management course has jumped dramatically. The points requirement for the three year degree, and four year honours degree have increased by 201and 185 points respectively. IT Tralee will register over 1600 students this September, according to the CAO figures released today. Overall tourism related courses saw the biggest increase in CAO points requirements, with requirements for nursing courses staying the same as last year, or with a slight increase. The degree in Health & Leisure with Massage jumped 40 points, however the points requirement for the same course without the ‘Massage’ aspect, fell by 15. Points for Agricultural Engineering fell by 20 points, while points for Civil and Environmental Engineering rose by 30. In a statement to Radio Kerry News, IT Tralee says there’s been a significant rise in the numbers of mature learners applying via CAO with an increase of 23% on 2013 figures. International student numbers will rise to 565 this year, and 207 places are available on Springboard programmes, which are specifically tailored to up-skill or re-skill job seekers who qualify for this Government-funded initiative.
