Demo track - please watch/listen in HD only. Demo track of a simple folk song I wrote when staying in Alexandria, Virginia, 1994. The photographs are from Hampstead Heath, London, 2014. I had thought about re-recording the vocal a third time but for now need to move on. Having learnt how to project my voice in teaching and in choir, I was newly inspired to croon and further influenced by Nordic speech-singing traditions. This is performed in whisper, largely unrehearsed, and sounds a bit raw. My voice disappeared entirely at start of session, going slightly flat by the third verse. However, I also enjoy those subtle flatnesses heard in many Jazz recordings.
