Democracy should bring hope to the people. Genuine democracy should not only guaranty lives and properties of the people, it should guarantee their freedom: the freedom to live, to associate, to choose their leaders, to determine how they are led and how their collective wealth is managed. Real democracy guarantees equality, fairness, justice, accountability and openness. Where there is genuine democracy, people are treated fairly and justly. With democracy comes satisfaction for all irrespective of race, religion, tribe or class. With all these, people are generally happy and united. Everyone gets something to do. The national cake goes round. People ask questions and they receive answers. Leaders are accountable for their actions. Their is discipline. There will be little disaffection. Crisis are limited. Violence has no breeding ground. There will be food to put on the table for all. With accountability and openness, corruption is curtailed. Without corruption, there will be no need to establish a ministry for stomach infrastructure or the appointment of a Special Assistant on stomach infrastructure. It is sad that leaders promote corruption and still dance and beat their chests in public. This is primitive arrogance. This is promotion of corruption and corrupt practices. We dont need a ministry of stomach infrastructure. We need credible, honest and godly leadership. We want genuine democracy where leaders are accountable to the people for their actions. We need a change !
