Democratic Alliance Press Statement by Mike Moriarty MPL DA Chief Liaison to the IEC DA encourages the public to make use of special vote opportunities Today marks the opening of applications for all registered South Africans who are unable to vote at their voting station on Election Day and would like to cast special votes before Election Day. South Africans with disabilities, the ill and infirm and pregnant women can apply for house visits from the IEC to cast votes on the 5th and 6th of May. Those voters requiring house visits need to fill in a special VEC1 application form and submit it between 7 April and 17 April 2014. Forms must be submitted by 17:00 on the 17th of April. Voters who will not able to vote on Election Day for any reason, will also be able to cast votes at their local voting station on the 5th and 6th of May. In order to apply for such a special vote, a VEC1 form must also be completed and handed in to the local IEC office. The DA is happy to assist any voters with this process. Anyone interested in casting a special vote before Election Day can contact the DA call centre at 0861 22 55 32. We have a number of volunteers ready to deliver forms to voters and pick them up for delivery to the IEC offices on behalf of voters.
