Democratic Alliance press statement by Gavin Davis MP DA Shadow Minister of Communications DA welcomes SABC CEO announcement The DA welcomes the announcement today by Communications Minister Faith Muthambi that an SABC Group CEO will be appointed within three months. The appointment has the potential to bring stability to the public broadcaster, if the right candidate is chosen. We will, however, be seeking clarity on the appointment process to be undertaken. It is crucial that the process is kept free of any political interference in order to rebuild the SABCs credibility. Minister Muthambi repeated her Departments intention today to communicate a good story to the South African public. This did nothing to allay fears that the Department is set to become a propaganda arm of the ANC. The DA will be watching closely to ensure that the SABC and other entities within the Communications Department are not abused in the pursuance of political agendas.
