Democrats are the party of big money. Thank God money doesnt always win. Money: Big, dark and smart. The Center for Responsive Politics projects that the 2014 election will have cost at least $3.67 billion. And while groups aligned with Democrats spent more, the GOP got the better return on investment. According to an analysis of the return on investment for outside spending groups by the Sunlight Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that advocates for government transparency, just one Democrat-aligned group achieved a success rate higher than 40 percent Tuesday night. By contrast, just one Republican-aligned group posted a success rate below 45 percent.
