Democrats for Sawant Press Conference WEDNESDAY OCT. 30, 9:30 AM, CITY HALL LOBBY October 29, 2013 - Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, Oct. 30, Democratic Party activists and current and former party officials will announce an effort in support of Kshama Sawants candidacy for Seattle City Council Position 2. Sawants opponent, 16-year incumbent Richard Conlin, has touted his progressive and Democratic Party credentials in his campaign against the socialist Sawant, but the Democrats for Sawant effort is a direct outgrowth of widespread enthusiasm for Sawants campaign among rank-and-file Democrats. Kshama Sawants positions on issues are far closer to the King County Democrats platform than Richard Conlins actual record is, says 37th District Vice-Chair Jeanne Legault, who is also former Treasurer of the King County Democrats, among many other positions. Speakers will include Sawant; Daniel Norton, former Chair of the King County Democrats and of the 36th District Democrats; Legault; and Yusuf Cabdi, former Chair of the Seattle Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
