Democrats throughout North Carolina today have lost a warrior in the death of Sen Martin Nesbitt. Western NC mourns its native son. His constant defense of the Democratic values in the General Assembly will long be remembered. He was the tall commanding man with the booming voice standing on the NC Senate floor defending the poor, fighting for public education, demanding equal treatment for all. exposing the injustices within the Voter ID law, defending the environment, and showing compassion for the needs of senior citizens.
