Dengue fever is on the increase, not only in Thailand but - TopicsExpress

Dengue fever is on the increase, not only in Thailand but worldwide. If dengue should change into hemaroghic fever; that is where the blood platelet level falls below 100, drinking the juice of papaya leaves is a recommended remedy. Here are two recipes showing how to prepare the leaves for dosage. RECIPE 1 Cut off the leaves and stems from the tree (not the fruit) Wash them with clean water Pat Dry Roughly chop in pieces 2-3cm Fill saucepan with leaves and stems then add water Bring to boil Simmer 2 hours Strain liquid into a glass container Discard paw-paw stems and leaves Drink 1 glass 250ml three times a day. Shake bottle before pouring. Refrigerate the rest (we used to make 2 litre batches) Liquid lasts about 3-6 days before fermenting. If it becomes cloudy, it should be discarded. Leaves last 7-10 days in the fridge before cooking, but are better used fresh. RECIPE 2 Wash and partly dry several medium-size papaya leaves/twigs Cut them up like cabbage and place them in a saucepan with 2 litres of water. Bring the water and leaves/twigs to the boil and simmer without a lid until the water is reduced by half. Strain the liquid and bottle in glass containers. The concentrate will keep in the refrigerator for three to four days. The recommended dosage in the original recipe is 3 Tablespoons/ 50ml three times a day.
