Denmark ranked as the worlds best to help the poor. For the third consecutive year, Denmark has been ranked as the top country which helps poorer countries fight poverty. The ranking has been done by the Center for Global Development. Denmark scored highest on development aid. One reason is that Denmark is one of a few countries which meet the international obligation of providing at least 0.7 percent of its GNP to poverty reduction – with a large proportion of aid going to the poorest countries. Denmark also scored highest on technology because it uses more than 1 percent of its GDP on research and technology development in Denmark. As transfer of technology is one of the demands by some of the developing countries, Denmark has collaborated with several developing countries in sharing and transferring knowledge and technology in areas such as IT, water and renewable energy. Denmark has more than 50 years of experience in development aid. The Danish International Development Agency (Danida) is an integrated part of the Danish foreign service. Danida has been active in Pakistan since 2010. Denmark supports areas such as education, democracy, human rights, peace and gender equality.
