Tom Huckabee is always looking for new talent. He is an award-winning writer, director, producer and educator with 30 years experience in film and television. A graduate of the Film and TV department of U.T. Austin, Tom wrote and directed his first feature “Taking Tiger Mountain,” starring Bill Paxton. He has been a staff producer at Landmark Theaters, a writer of non-fiction TV for the Disney and the Discovery Channels, a script doctor of four produced feature films, a ghost writer on a half dozen major movies, (“Twister,” “Vertical Limit,” “Mighty Joe Young,” etc.) and a staff researcher for the History Channels “Modern Marvels. He was a professional script analyzer for numerous Hollywood companies including 21st Century pictures. He is a graduate of the Hollywood Scriptwriting Institute and Jeffrey Kitchens Development Heaven. He was vice president of Bill Paxton’s American Entertainment, Inc. He created and oversaw the development of projects with Disney, Universal, Imagine, Image Movers, HBO and Revolution Studios. He has been a creative collaborator of James Cameron, Sam Raimi, Ron Howard, Ron Shelton (Tin Cup), Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure), Mark Frost (Twin Peaks), Jack Rapke (Polar Express), Al Reinert (Apollo 13), Roger Avery (Pulp Fiction), David Blocker (Into the Wild) , Rupert Wainwright (Stigmata), Audrey Wells ( Under the Tuscan Sun), David Kirschner (Childs Play) and Brent Hanley (Frailty) . In 2001 he executive-produced “Frailty,” starring Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughey, and Powers Boothe, distributed by Lions Gate. Tom wrote, directed and produced his second feature film, “Carried Away,” and won three first place film festival awards. Distributed by Vanguard Cinema, available through many online outlets and Netflix and Red Box. He was the lead researcher, writer and co-producer of the documentary feature, “The Starck Club,” produced by Michael Cain, to be released in 2014. Anthology Film Archives will honor “Taking Tiger Mountain” with a retrospective screening in April 2014 in April 2014. Huckabee educates and mentors others in filmmaking and creative writing, including teaching teachers how to use film equipment for film production. He is a lecturer on screenwriting and filmmaking at numerous high schools, colleges, and churches, including TCU, UNT, A&M, TCC, etc. Arts Fifth Avenue, The Endeavor Cinema Group, Oxford Film Festival, The Glen Rose Neo Relix Film Festival, and The Dallas Screenwriters Association have all hosted his two writing workshops, “Laying the Foundation of a Good Script”and“Finishing that Script You Started. He is currently shopping a four-hour mini-series script about the life of Timothy Leary, while developing a new workshop: Telling the Story of Your Life
