Departing Chicago... The trip was far from perfect (I will NEVER pack so much shit and walk a mile to/from the subway ever again!!!), but there were many things that made up for it. The Convergence 20 weekend was filled with much reminiscence, new memories, re-connection, new bonds, and prolific moments that would have fit a pivotal moment in a movie. I felt the Joel/Skeletal of old arising again in something new. I was once again reminded why I love and have given my life to this scene, even though some will insist its peak is far behind us. Last night in that ballroom, you would have trouble convincing anyone that the spark and passion has died. The old schoolers were showing the new kids how it was done, and the young blood showed the elders that there are plenty of new tricks and things to inspire. So, it is with bittersweet feelings that I return home from a Gothic wonderland, but with a sense of satisfaction that even if I am to be one of the few lone soldiers still carrying the banner of the bat in my home town, there are still those scattered across the globe that are holding true and still believe in beautiful dreams of shadow. Lastly, thanks to Scarylady Sarah and William Faith for giving me the opportunity to play in front of the Convergence crowd (we will be in touch about the future ;) )and to Jim Cookas and Brittany Bindrim for being gracious enough to share their home with me (and make killer breakfasts!). See you tonight at Rapture at the Crack Fox , St. Louis friends.
