Department of Mathematics Seminar Speaker: Emanuel Indrei Affiliation: ANU and MSRI Title: Optimal regularity for the shadow boundary generated by parallel illumination Date: Thursday, 1 Aug 2013 Time: 11:00 am Location: Room 401 Illuminating the surface of a convex body with parallel beams of light in a given direction generates a shadow region. In this talk, we present sharp regularity results for the boundary of the shadow. Moreover, we will show how one may apply these results to obtain Hausdorff estimates on the singular set corresponding to a Monge-Ampère double obstacle problem arising in optimal transport theory.
