Depend upon it - there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge, you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones. Arthur Conan Doyle. What we put our mental focus on, we are filling up the great storehouse of our minds with and the new is not always greater than the old. Just as the food we eat provides what we need to maintain our physical bodies, so the things we put our thought on determine our moods and experiences of tomorrow and next week. If something makes us feel good, its probably useful to us, if it makes us recoil or creates a knot in the stomach, its probably best avoided where possible. When we cant avoid uncomfortable situations, its wise at least not to dwell on them too long afterward. Its all too easy to keep reminding ourselves of unfortunate events that would be best forgotten. “The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.” ― Arthur Conan Doyle.
