Depending on your loading parameters (volume/intensity/frequency/rest periods/tempo) will dictate the stimulus and specific adaptation in the neuromuscular system of the athlete! Volume and intensity needs to be manipulated in a specific,structured and overloaded fashion to maximise adaptation and minimise overtraining and stagnation. If stimulus is not progressed or task complexity not increased athletes physical capacities are not enhanced leading to regression of athletic potential. Depending on the specific loading parameters will dictate the specific adaptation and goal we as performance coaches are after. In summary know what you are training for and create a plan that uses science and art!
