Deputies: ‘Gruesome scene’ of dead animals discovered at Liberty home LIBERTY, SC (FOX Carolina) - A Liberty man has been charged after deputies said animals were found dead on his property. Chief Deputy Creed Hashe said Ricky David Turner, 33, was arrested after as many as nine animals were found at his home on Blackbottom Road. Hashe said the sheriff’s office was notified on Jan. 14 after officials from Pickens County Animal Control discovered a “gruesome scene” at the home. When deputies arrived, they discovered numerous carcasses in the backyard along with dead and sick animals in cages, according to Hashe. Hashe said a goat, two pigs and six rabbits were found dead in their cages. Turner was taken into custody on Friday and charged with ill treatment to animals, first offense, and failure to bury dead animals.
